Gerald Cohen, CEO for Information Builders and chief innovation officer and VP of global product marketing Dr. Rado Kotorov have collaborated on Organizational Intelligence, a book that details the history of IT, and the place of analytics within it. The book also delivers six case studies that show how Information Builders’ solutions were deployed in companies such as nVision Global and Ford Motor Company.

How Linux took over the world

Twenty-five years ago, a Finnish student named Linus Torvalds sent out an innocuous email telling the community that, as a hobby, he was writing a new, free operating system. Today, the most popular distribution, Ubuntu alone has over 22 million users; Linux runs nearly all of the top 500 fastest supercomputers on the planet; and Android, the mobile operating system based on Linux, runs over 60 percent of mobile phones according to Kantar Worldwide, almost twice Apple’s market share. Not bad for what started as a student project.

FIDO progress on passwords

The call to revamp authentication methods is intensifying, and vendors under increasing pressure to eliminate passwords.

As demand for new biometric authentication technologies grows, manufacturers are going to have to join hands with the FIDO Alliance. Mike Lynch, chief strategy officer at InAuth, explains how the alliance is supporting the adoption of new approaches to authentication: “We introduced two authentication solutions for Samsung and iPhone with fingerprint reading capabilities and adoption was around 50 percent. And once customers use it, they never want to go back to using a password”. Read more
