Dear Friends in Fiber,
Day one was a great success! With 134 vendors to see in our climate contolled environment, you won't want to miss this great event.
TWO more days left to enjoy the Fair.
When: Saturday 10m-6pm. We stay open outside until 7pm so you can enjoy the music of The (fabulous) Berrymans.
Where: The Lake County Fairgrounds, Grayslake, IL. The fairgrounds are new and some have had difficulty with maps - they are at the corner of Midlothian and Peterson Roads in Grayslake, IL (south of town). See the Fairgounds site at www.lcfair.net for a map.
The Fair Map is now available at www.fiberandfolk.com/assets/2010FairMap.pdf! To help you find your favorite vendors - we've divided the Market into 3 sections: Section 1 (booths starting at 100) is to your left as you enter the Fair; Section 2 (booths starting at 200) is straight ahead; Section 3 (booths starting at 300) is to your right. And, we have these nifty support poles that have great big letters on them: A through I. Vendor booth numbers include the alpha letter of the pole closest to them - so find the section, find the letter and and you'll find your vendor will be nearby!
RUST TEX COLLECTION
We are thrilled to present "The Rust Tex Collection" as part of our Fine Fiber & Folk Art Exhibit this year. The Rust Tex Collection (RTC) is a unique art show of contemporary fabrics curated by veteran quilt maker and founder of the Rust-Tex Company, Lois Jarvis of Madison, Wisconsin (booth 227, 228). In order to promote interest in this unique process in the art quilt community, a competition was announced for debut at the prestigious International Quilt Festival in Chicago, held in April, 2010. There were 112 entries from all around the world, including Australia, Israel, Canada, New Zealand, Sweden, Belgium and the USA. Judges Deb Menz, who wrote, “Color in Spinning” and “Color Works”, and Mary Jo Scandin, a well known Wisconsin fiber artist, had a hard time getting it down to 25. After leaving the Midwest Fiber & Folk Art Fair, the RTC will be traveling to the Festival of Quilts in Birmingham, England Aug 20-23, 2010 and to Australia in June of 2011.
WIN A SHOPPING SPREE!
We are giving away 2 $25 shopping sprees a day to all those who sign up for our email list. You are all on our email list, but you can still enter (renew) with us and be included in the drawing! We appreciate all of you who stay up to date with the Fair. And, our email list (which we promise NEVER to share) helps us gain support and sponsorship for the event. We share only the numbers (how many people total, how many people in state, how many people in US) with potential sponsors. Their support helps us to keep improving the Fair for YOU! Sign up at the Reception area in the Lobby.
Make sure you pick up a Fair Program at the Reception area in the Lobby once you get to the Fair. Not only is the centerfold a nice map of the Marketplace and Exhibits (you don't have to print the one from the web site - we've done it up big for you), but you'll need the book to check out the Fair Specials some vendors are having! (Hint, not all Fair Specials are on the Fair Special page, either). You'll also find the complete Vendor List, Schedule of Events, Musical Entertainment, and lots more.
Celebrating the Work of our Hands
Thank you to all of you who have been getting our "Be Inspired" updates! Your support of the event is what helps us GROW!
See you at the Fair!
Please help us spread the news about the Fair and share this email with a friend (see below)!
