Welcome to our June newsletter.

In this month's edition, news of our forthcoming collaboration with the Pop Up Kitchen, more market dates in Sussex and our new barbecue blends.

The Pop Up Kitchen

We're delighted to be working with The Pop Up Kitchen, a team of great local chefs who do one-off nights in venues around Brighton offering a two course dinner for an amazing £10. They are committed to sourcing at least 80% of their produce within 15 miles of Brighton and Hove, buying locally, foraging what they can and delivering incredible flavour.

Their next pop up event is at the Farm Tavern, Farm Road, Hove on Thursday 14 June with a menu of delicious North African food using spice blends from Pinch Seasonings. Come to the event to taste flat breads with za'atar, Berbere spiced lentils and a classic Moroccan tagine of chicken with olives and preserved lemons with ras el hanout - the lemons were preserved using our gros sel gris de Guérande and were featured in our May newsletter.

To book a table phone the Farm Tavern on 01273 779886. Dinner served from 6pm. Click here for the menu and more details of other Pop Up Kitchen events.

More market dates in Sussex

You can now find us every Saturday at Brighton Farm Market, North Road, Brighton. The market is situated in the heart of Brighton's vibrant North Laine district, just five minutes walk from the railway station and in the midst of some of the best places in town to shop, eat and drink. The market is open from 9am until 5pm every Saturday selling a wide range of local produce including some great takeaway and picnic food, fresh fish, meat, fruit and veg, bread and cakes. There is also a cafe providing an extensive menu of food and drinks throughout the day.

Shoreham Farmers' Market this month coincides with the Shoreham Food and Drink Festival so the market on Saturday 9 June is open for an extended period, until 4pm. We will also have a stall in the marquee on Coronation Green on Sunday 10 June as part of the festivities. The Festival is a great opportunity to shop for produce from local suppliers, eat great food and savour local wine, beer and cider.

New barbecue blends

It wouldn't be a British summer without braving the weather for a barbecue, so we've developed a range of three blends that are perfect for adding flavour to meat, fish or vegetables. All three can be used as a dry rub to give a flavour blast, or as can be mixed with lemon juice or oil to form a marindate in advance of cooking.

If you take one Pinch barbecue rub to the beach, make it this one! Whatever you are cooking our beach BBQ rub is a great all-rounder with brown sugar for sticky sweetness, tangy sweet paprika, and a hint of cayenne to give a mild chilli buzz. Use this to liven up any meat, fish or vegetables.

Our herby BBQ rub is the one for those who love flavour without heat. Rosemary, marjoram and sage are blended with sweet paprika, onion and garlic and rounded off with mustard and black pepper. This rub is great sprinkled onto chicken, pork, fish, haloumi cheese or vegetable kebabs.

Our smokey BBQ rub is a heady mix of smokey, herby flavours. Chipotle chillies and black pepper provide the heat to which we have added tangy orange peel and a pinch of pungent thyme resulting in a full flavoured barbecue blend that is great with beef, lamb or even mushrooms. Rub liberally over food before cooking.
