5 years and still growing.
Yes, LumberJocks.com has just celebrated its 5th year (its debut was February 26, 2006) and from those beginnings it has developed into the #1 online woodworking showcase community! Congratulations to everyone for making this site what it is today.

(as always, feedback on the eMag is appreciated!)

FLAGGING SITE CONTENT

"Flags" have been introduced so members can help identify postings and comments that are not fitting with the site rules or have been posted in the wrong location.

Once an entry has been flagged, it will be checked and assessed by the team (taking into consideration the number of times an entry has been flagged) and a decision will be made as to whether it needs to be addressed and, if so, what action should be taken.

LumberJocks' Classes

mininike

Carving Class

Over the few years, we have mulled around the idea of having "classes" as part of the LumberJocks experience. This past year, we have tested the waters, thanks to the unsolicited presentations by:
* Andy (art boxes)
* Jordan (shoe carving), and
* Stefang (antique wooden bucket).

We have now officially made "LumberJocks' Classes" part of our online community. A class is different than a tutorial in that the participants build a designated project right alongside the instructor, getting step-by-step directions and supports. Completion of the project, by the designated completion date, results in (drum roll, please) the precious treasure of a special LumberJock Certificate.

"Discovering Wood" ~ by DocT.
DocT's description of his goals is inspiring. He is seeking:
* an "intimate working knowledge of exotic woods from the local urban forest! [...] I want to obtain sample logs from a whole host of native and ornamental species. I want to turn these samples. I want to mill these samples. I hope to chronicle the discoveries of my journey. Hopefully, it will be informative to you as well."

There is a saying that goes, "April Showers bring May Flowers". Well, April is around the corner and a hat is a great thing to have during a rainy season.
How about a LumberJocks' hat?
