April 2011

Dear Colleagues,

As the Spring Semester draws to a close, I want to thank you for all you do to make the USF College of Education the excellent, inspiring place that it is.

Congratulations to the faculty and graduate students who presented their research at AERA in New Orleans. They made over 50 presentations at the conference. The complete list is shown here.

Provost Wilcox will kick off our Spring Faculty Meeting in the TECO Room, Friday, April 29 at 2 p.m. I hope all of you can join us for the meeting and the reception to follow.

We are delighted to welcome Linda Breen as our new Development Director. You will have a chance to meet Linda at the Spring Faculty Meeting.

Strawberry sales benefiting migrant education were a hit again this year! Thanks to our wonderful Development Staff and volunteers for making it a success.

Commencement is right around the corner on May 5 and 6 at the St. Petersburg Times Forum and the Tampa Convention Center. Please check the main USF website calendar for more information.

Our faculty searches were successful and we are eagerly awaiting 3 new colleagues in August.

In this issue we are highlighting some of the many initiatives underway in the College and the accomplishments of our faculty, students and alumni. As you can see, the COEDU is engaged with our communities, locally and globally, undertaking significant interdisciplinary research, and blazing new trails in technology.

I am always heartened to learn about the difference our faculty, students and alumni are making in the lives of children, families and adults. I hope you will enjoy this issue of the Dean's Update.

Best regards,

Colleen S. Kennedy, Ph.D.
