Aviary Education beta will be closed after the summer

I want to give all teachers an early heads up that Aviary will not be offering access to its Aviary Education beta program for the upcoming Fall 2012 semester and that they should plan accordingly.

This was a very tough update to write, as I know that there are thousands of teachers relying on Aviary's advanced editing suite in their classrooms. I have always been a huge supporter of technological innovation in the classrooms. But as Aviary has successfully shifted its core business into the photo-editing API business and has reshaped our team to support that product, we realize that we need to focus exclusively on this direction and can't continue to support a product that is not in that scope.

We will leave access for existing users running until the end of the summer time. Assume that access will end by August 31st. For those of you who need it, we plan to offer a simple way for you to bulk export all of your student media files. We intend to make that export option available to you by August 1st. If you want to be sent a link to this service when it is available, please send an email to "[email protected]" with details of your school content that you wish to retrieve.

I know that teachers need some lead time to plan for the next semester, so we hope this is enough notice and apologize to anyone we have inconvenienced.

If you are looking for alternate education management programs dealing with multimedia we recommend giving the following services a try:

Schoology
Blackboard
Moodle

I'm thankful to everyone who gave the Aviary Education beta a try since its launch. Your feedback was amazing and this is a truly a product we are proud of and sad to see go.

Gratefully,
Avi Muchnick
CEO / Aviary
