Independents Week (July 1-7) is one of two annual campaigns we facilitate to help you generate awareness of the benefits your local independent businesses bring to your community. AMIBA provides a wide array of free templates and resources, and we're available to help with crafting ideas, messaging, media contacts, etc. Independents Week connects the ideal of freedom for individuals and communities to choose economic self-sufficiency with the key role independent business play in providing such opportunity. Indie Week also provides opportunities to highlight the importance of your local businesses to community well being.
Many local alliances have used Independents Week as a launch pad with great success. Others use the opportunity to engage public officials. It's a prime opportunity to get your educational messages out to your community and the media.
You can choose to incorporate as much or little activity as you like, but do seize the opportunity! AMIBA affiliation is not required. Click here for a menu of all the available resources (also linked prominently on our home page during May-early July). This primer (6 pp pdf) provides an overview of many activities and materials.
Please let us know what your organization or business plan to do locally. We may have the opportunity to send media contacts your way. As always, AMIBA will issue a press release to regional and national media and offer some of the best ideas we hear from you as examples.
