Breast Feeding Drop Ins

The drop ins at Woodlands Sure Start Centre in East Malling continue to grow in popularity and it is lovely to have the latest newly trained volunteers now on board. The breast buddies are now visiting new mum's in Pembury Hospital which means that they can pass on all the information, guidance and encouragement that the new mum's need within the first few days, if not hours, of baby being born. Definitely a good way to ensure that they get 'off to the best start'!

Naturally Healthy Pregnancy Evenings

Well done to Georgina Strickland, Emma Goodman and Charlotte With for hosting yet another fantastic Healthy Pregnancy Evening at Southcote Proactive Healthcare in Maidstone on 3rd December. Congratulations are in order too as it was a celebration of their 2nd year as well as being a fund raiser for a fledgling charity called ICU Babysteps. Raffle tickets will be on sale until Christmas and are available at Southcote on 01622 661883. Here are some of the team.

Maidstone Birthing Centre

Maidstone's new birthing centre has now opened it's doors and I was able to attend the last open evening wearing my NCT volunteers hat. It was good to speak to the visitors about what they can gain from membership with the UK's largest charity for parents. Sadly I am unable to promote my hypnotherapy practice as they have a group of midwives there who already do hypnosis for birth as well as other complementary therapies.

Personally Speaking

The completion of my CBT course has been postponed until the spring so in the meantime I have attended a CPD course run by the Hypnotherapy Society on Anxiety which is something I am finding that I get asked to help with more and more these days. As the economic situation worsens and the pressures of Christmas descend upon us it is important for us all to find a way to allow ourselves to unwind and let off steam. Learning self hypnosis can be very beneficial, but an even more simple thing that most of us should be able to fit into our lives is just getting outside in the fresh air and going for a nice long walk, preferably in the countryside and with some enjoyable company. Walking and talking are the best way to de-stress and it's free!

Did you know?

That the blood in the umbilical cord and placenta are rich in stem cells. These stems cells can be used to help sufferers of leukaemia and other serious blood disorders. Currently the UK collects and stores far less stem cells this way than other countries and the Anthony Nolan Trust have now established their own Cord Blood programme and aim to bank 15000 cord units by 2014. For more information go to:

Anthony Nolan Trust

It is a risk free procedure and does not interfere with the safe delivery of your baby in any way.
