Launched just over a year ago, URDB has quickly grown to prominence thanks to sold-out events across the country, a popular recurring segment on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and thousands of unique records sent in from around the globe.
"Our events are known for individual heroism, group participation, hilarity, surprise and all-around general chaos," says URDB co-founder and event host Dan Rollman. "We've seen everything from the world's tallest carrot cake to 12 women standing on top of a man rolled up in a carpet."
The Universal Record Database is an open platform for world records, built on the philosophy that everyone on earth can be the world's best at something. Launched in November 2008, URDB.org hosts nearly 3000 world records from around the globe, with dozens pouring in weekly. They've been profiled on Good Morning America, CNN and CBS Sunday Morning, and appear regularly on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. URDB has sold out multiple live events on both coasts, and have plans in the works for a national tour in 2010. The site was recently named URLesque's 2009 Site of the Year.
