Meet Our Featured Expert!

Wayne Parrott, PhD, is a professor in the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences, College of Agricultural & Environmental Sciences, at the University of Georgia. He holds a BS in Agronomy from the University of Kentucky and a MS and PhD in Plant Breeding & Plant Genetics from the University of Wisconsin. He currently teaches Agroecology of Tropical America, Behavior & Evolution of the Plant Genome, Transgenic Breeding, and Communication Technique. His research centers on the development of tissue culture and gene transfer systems, primarily for leguminous species, emphasizing soybean, and the use of gene transfer systems to introduce value-added traits into it. Dr. Parrott has helped Best Food Facts answer questions about the following topics:
